Day 17

The numbness is really getting to me. My face feels so tight. It's especially uncomfortable at night before bed. I can never get comfortable sitting on the couch watching tv. My gums also ache. Getting pulsing sensations in my chin, jawline and sinuses and have "the itches" on my lips. Argh!!! I think I look better in pics than in person. The right side of my jawline is noticeably more swollen, but it doesn't really show here. Sorry for the grumpy post! It really is tiresome to have these sensations for so many days in a row.

  1. The numbness is the most annoying for me too. Those funny sensations mean feeling is coming back though! You look great!

  3. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one having a couple grumpy days, lol. No offence! Amanda, you're really looking great. For someone who wouldn't have known what you looked like before, you look completely normal/healed. Seriously, you look so good. I'm jealous! lol

  4. You do look great! The frozen feeling is the most annoying thing for a while. I still get it late in the day if I talk or chew a lot even at 13 weeks. I have found acupuncture to help a lot if I get it every week. I skipped it early this week because of the storm, and I can feel the frozen feeling the last couple of days.
    You are healing so quickly!

  5. Thanks everyone! I feel a little bit better knowing I'm not alone. This uncomfortable feeling is something I never thought about when reading post op blogs before my surgery. You see pics and think, wow, look how good they look and are healed after a few weeks. But this numbness/coming out of numbness is like Chinese water torture! I am happy that I look "normal" enough in pics, but when I talk its a whole other story. I look like an LA housewife who has overdone it with Botox and collagen lips. @Lou I definitely thought about acupuncture, but have got to actually go...thanks for the reminder!

  6. Uhg, the itches and tickley twinges drove me nuts! They go away, but at a snail's pace. You want to scratch, but when you touch it, your whole face goes bonkers! I'm still having teensy bits of it, but I'm used to it at this point. Hang in there.

  7. Having just seen this lovely lady a week ago in person, she looks great in pics, but she looks equally great in person! Watching your recovery process is amazing- and you look fantastic!
